The Nursing Home

very nice story worth sharing for!!! it made me cry…just a story but it is full of lesson!!! a very good insight for our daily lives!!! have a nice day everyone!!

The Nursing Home
=================

The 92-year-old petite, well-poised and proud lady,
who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock,
with her hair fashionably fixed and makeup perfectly applied
even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.

Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move
necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the
nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready.

As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator,
I provided a visual description of her tiny room,
including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.
“I love it,” she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old
having just been presented with a new puppy.

“Mrs. Jones, you haven’t seen the room… just wait.”
“That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” she replied.
“Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time.
Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the
furniture is arranged… it’s how I arrange my mind.”

“I’ve already decided to love it.
It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up.
I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed
recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that
no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones
that do.

Each day is a gift and as long as my eyes open,
I’ll focus on the new day
and all the happy memories I’ve stored away
just for this time in my life.”

“Old age is like a bank account.
You withdraw from what you’ve put in.
So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness
in the bank account of memories.”

“Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank.
I am still depositing.”

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

Bible Reflections from Kyregma

HOUSE RULES

“If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love… that your joy may be complete.” – John 15:10-11
“House rules? I only have one,” the priest said to our retreat class regarding the use of the facility. Discarding a traditional long list of do’s and don’ts, he laid out the shortest but most powerful house rules in the planet. He simply said, “Treat this retreat house as you would your own home that you love so dearly.”
Jesus’ command in the verses above is simple too. “Love one another.” Period. Now it makes a lot sense why He said, “If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love.” This is more than just a law. In no unclear terms, He is also showing us the way to a life of joy.
Just take a look at what’s common with the following: a working mother who skips lunch just to be able to buy a blue Superman shirt for her boy, a sleep depraved husband who attends to his sick wife, and a brilliant medical student who opts to be a missionary in the mountains. All these people have the joy that the world may not understand and can never take away!
Today’s message in short: His command of love is joy! Jon Escoto
REFLECTION:
Do you want joy in your life? Simply love. This is God’s command to you.
Lord, I need your “command.” Give me the grace that I may fully obey it, that I may find joy and have it complete in my life.

WHY AND HOW CAN HE?

Have you ever wondered why Jesus loves us so much? We even expect that Jesus should love us the way He does. But we do not bother to ask how Jesus can love us so much. We think that He loves us simply because He is God. But today, let us pause and ask: How can Jesus love us even if we are undeserving of His love?
Jesus Himself answers our question today. “As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you,” He declares in the Gospel. Jesus loves us because the Father loves Him first. He loves us so much because the Father loves Him so much as well. As the Father loves Him, so does Jesus love us and loves us in the same measure of His Father’s love for Him. The love of the Father for Him is like a well from where Jesus draws His love for us. And because the Father is eternal, His love for Jesus is everlasting; so too is Jesus’ love for us. Because the Father is immortal, His love for Jesus is undying; so too is Jesus’ love for us. Because the Father is selfless, He loves Jesus selflessly; so too is Jesus’ love for us. If someone approaches you and asks you why and how can Jesus be in love with us, read to him today’s Gospel.
Jesus commands us to love one another as He loves us. Some people may ask whether love can really be commanded or not. Following the logic of love between the Father and Jesus and between Jesus and us, the answer to that question is this: Yes, love can be commanded because it has first been given. Jesus can command us to love one another because He has first loved us. He loves us so that we may love.
Remain in that love.Fr. Bobby Titco
Reflection Question: “The true measure of love is love without measure.” (St. Francis de Sales)
Jesus, thank You for loving me as the Father loves You. That is so overwhelming, Jesus. Help me to love others as You love me. Amen.

Peter recognizes that in the mind of God there is no ultimate distinction between Jew and Gentile. What I mean by this is that He loves all men and women with the same love and has the same desire for the salvation of all. The Gospel is not a message for a small exclusive group of people but for all mankind. As such we should always be on the lookout for opportunities to draw others into the life of grace we know so well.
Acts 15:7-21
7 After much debate had taken place, Peter got up and said to them, “My brothers, you are well aware that from early days God made his choice among you that through my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts. 10 Why, then, are you now putting God to the test by placing on the shoulders of the disciples a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear? 11 On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they.” 12 The whole assembly fell silent, and they listened while Paul and Barnabas described the signs and wonders God had worked among the Gentiles through them. 13 After they had fallen silent, James responded, “My brothers, listen to me. 14 Symeon has described how God first concerned himself with acquiring from among the Gentiles a people for his name. 15 The words of the prophets agree with this, as is written: 16 ‘After this I shall return and rebuild the fallen hut of David; from its ruins I shall rebuild it and raise it up again, 17 so that the rest of humanity may seek out the Lord, even all the Gentiles on whom my name is invoked. Thus says the Lord who accomplishes these things, 18 known from of old.’ 19 It is my judgment, therefore, that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God, 20 but tell them by letter to avoid pollution from idols, unlawful marriage, the meat of strangled animals, and blood. 21 For Moses, for generations now, has had those who proclaim him in every town, as he has been read in the synagogues every sabbath.”

P S A L M
Psalm 96: 1-2a, 2b-3, 10
R: Proclaim God’s marvelous deeds to all the nations.
1 Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all you lands. 2 Sing to the LORD; bless his name. (R) Announce his salvation, day after day. 3 Tell his glory among the nations; among all peoples, his wondrous deeds. (R) 10 Say among the nations the LORD is king. He has made the world firm, not to be moved; he governs the peoples with equity. (R)

Jesus exhorts His disciples to remain in His love. Jesus knows that one of the reasons why His ministry has been so powerful is that it was not just dependent upon His own resources. He was able to draw from His union with His Father in Heaven as well. This is true wisdom that is easy to understand. A fighter on his own in battle is mucheasier to defeat than one who stands as part of an army.
John 15:9-11
9 “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. 11 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.”

A small Chapel in Lengenfeld..In most places esp. by the fields/farmers’ land, in the state of Bavaria or even in most places in Germany, you can always see Crucifix or small chapels. I just find it very amazing how Germans made these symbols to show their trust and belief in God!! great!!

The Preacher’s Son

I love this story…read it and I hope that it will give you some insights too especially to your children!! have a great Wednesday!!

The Preacher’s Son
===================

An old country preacher had a teenage son, and it was getting
time the boy should give some thought to choosing a
profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn’t really
know what he wanted to do, and he didn’t seem too concerned
about it. One day, while the boy was away at school, his
father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy’s
room and placed on his study table four objects.

1. A bible.
2. A silver dollar.
3. A bottle of whisky.
4. And a Playboy magazine.

“I’ll just hide behind the door,” the old preacher said to
himself. “When he comes home from school today, I’ll see
which object he picks up.

If it’s the bible, he’s going to be a preacher like me, and
what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the dollar, he’s
going to be a business man, and that would be okay, too. But
if he picks up the bottle, he’s going to be a no-good drunken
bum, and Lord, what a shame that would be. And worst of all if
he picks up that magazine he’s going to be a skirt-chasing
womanizer.”

The old man waited anxiously, and soon heard his son’s foot-
steps as he entered the house whistling and headed for his
room.

The boy tossed his books on the bed, and as he turned to leave
the room he spotted the objects on the table. With curiosity
in his eye, he walked over to inspect them.

Finally, he picked up the Bible and placed it under his arm.
He picked up the silver dollar and dropped into his pocket.
He uncorked the bottle and took a big drink, while he admired
this month’s centerfold.

“Lord have mercy,” the old preacher disgustedly whispered.
“He’s gonna run for Congress.”

Our Sufficiency is From God

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God

2 Corinthians 3:5 KJV
________________

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.

Colossians 1:12,21,22 KJV
________________

Thanks be unto God for His wonderful gift:
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God
is the object of our faith; the only faith that
saves is faith in Him.

We need a Savior

As it is written,

There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth,
there is none that seeketh after God.

They are all gone out of the way,
they are together become unprofitable;
there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Romans 3:10-12 KJV
________________

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

Ephesians 2:1-3 NASB

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

Name above all names

Meditation

The Humbled and Exalted Christ

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:5-11 NKJV

Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes

Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes;
and I shall keep it unto the end.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law;
yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Make me to go in the path of thy commandments;
for therein do I delight.

Incline my heart unto thy testimonies,
and not to covetousness.

Psalm 119:33-36 KJV
________________

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Hebrews 13:5,6 KJV

Bible Reflections from Kyregma

UNTIL LOVE LETS GO

Imagine that you were one of the Twelve Apostles. You left home, family, trade, and whatnot and followed Jesus who came from Nazareth, a place from where, nothing good ever comes. You went everywhere Jesus went. You heard His teachings and believed everything He said. If ever you had doubts about the sanity and truthfulness of Jesus, you had many chances to leave Him, but you remained with Him. Now, He is saying goodbye. How would you feel?
Then Jesus says, “Do not let your heart be troubled.” His words do not seem to help ease your hurt, do they? Letting go is such a painful process that words — no matter how beautiful and sincere they are— can even intensify the sting of separation. No matter how much we are assured that the separation is only temporary, we still believe that it is better for people we love to be physically present.
But love is not love until it lets go. One who professes love but refuses to let go is not a lover. He is a parasite. Letting go is the ultimate test of love. In the Gospel today, both Jesus and the apostles needed to let go. But their mutual letting go did not mean abandonment or betrayal. Their letting go was the ultimate challenge of their love for one another. Jesus had to let go of His apostles for their sake. The apostles must let go of Jesus so He could complete the mission entrusted to Him by the Father. From then on, the love between Jesus and His disciples – you and I included – would have to grow with faith and hope.
Love demands faith and is nourished by hope. Our faith convinces us what our physical reality fails to prove: Jesus is here with us. Our hope sustains us where human expectation falls short: Jesus will come again and take us with Him to paradise. Faith, hope, and love as St. Paul wrote, are the things that last to the end; and the greatest of them is love. But love is not love until it lets go. Fr. Bobby Titco

Refection Question:
Let go and let God.
I cling to You, O Jesus, more than anything and anyone. I let go of You so that I may cling to You even more. Amen.

WHO DO YOU LOOK LIKE?

When I was a little boy, my mother used to tell me about how I got my Christian name. She originally wanted to name me Angelito, Joselito, or Raulito. She said anything with “lito” would do because the suffix makes your name sound younger than your real age. But Angelito was her favorite because she considered me an “angel” even before she saw my face. My father, however, wanted to name me Carlo Magno. His name was Carlos, as he was born on the feast day of St. Charles Borromeo. He was not particular in making me his junior, but he wanted my name to be after Charlemagne or Charles the Great. But my name is not Angelito or Carlo. My name is Roberto.
When I was born, my mother said, my father’s brother had recently passed away. Uncle Robert Frank died at a young age. My coming into the clan was like taking the place vacated by Uncle Robert’s death. According to my mother, when my father saw me in the nursery for thefirst time, he immediately saw Uncle Robert’s features in me. Thus, from Carlo, my father shifted to Roberto, and his choice prevailed when I was christened.
My father “saw” my uncle in me — that is how I got my name. If we call ourselves Christians, should the world not see Christ in us? To see Jesus is to see the Father. Hopefully, to see us is to see Jesus, too. Fr. Bobby Titco

Reflection Question: Who do people see in me?
Lord Jesus Christ, You are God’s only begotten Son. To see You is to see the Father. I pray that when people see me, they see You, only You, always You. Amen.
St. Alphege, archbishop, pray for us.

Notice how it is now Paul and Barnabas and no longer Barnabas and Paul. This indicates there has been a shift in leadership in the missionary group from Barnabas to Paul. Later on we will see that the two split up. It is unsure what the reason for this disagreement was. If such things can happen to saints, then they can also happen to us. Let us then strive to maintain unity of mind and heart with all whom we serve.
Acts 13:44-52
44 On the following sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45 When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and with violent abuse contradicted what Paul said. 46 Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first, but since you reject it and condemn yourselves as unworthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us, ‘I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” 48 The Gentiles were delighted when they heard this and glorified the word of the Lord. All who were destined for eternal life came to believe, 49 and the word of the Lord continued to spread through the whole region. 50 The Jews, however, incited the women of prominence who were worshipers and the leading men of the city, stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their territory. 51 So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium. 52 The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 98: 1, 2- 3ab, 3cd-4
R: All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God. 1 Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done wondrous deeds; his right hand has won victory for him, his holy arm. (R) 2 The LORD has made his salvation known in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice. 3 He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. (R) All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God. 4 Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; break into song; sing praise. (R)

G O S P E L
To have seen Jesus is to have seen the Father. This is a critical insight Jesus shares with Philip. It reveals the unity of the Father and Son – a unity we must all seek to enter into if we want to fully know the will of God for our lives. Jesus’ authority and purpose of mission comes from this unity. Let us therefore seek to be one with both the Father and all those with whom we serve in the building of the Kingdom of God.
John 14:7- 14
7 “If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. 12 Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.”

Never Mind The Wine

I went to church today…in Assisi. It is one of only two
Anglican churches in Umbria, Italy, and this one has only been
going for a year now.

I am the churchwarden. I, for my sins, was standing a little
too close to the minister when he was looking for a volunteer.

After the service we had a lunch together in a superb local
restaurant, about twelve of us, and over the lunch we discussed
the quality of the communion wine. It was not as good as we
normally have and there were a few complaints, especially from
our minister.

It was…alright, but just not as good as usual.

I explained that it was left in the bottle from last time and
had probably gone off a bit. I had taken along a new unopened
bottle of Vinto Santo, the Italian equivalent of sherry, but
decided not to use it as the other wine seemed drinkable.

I apologized to the group for my decision. Then I said, “Hey,
exactly what are we complaining about here? It is not the
quality of the wine that counts, but surely the quality of the
prayer that goes with it!”

There was a deathly silence. “Of course!” said everyone at
once, “We have all completely missed the point!”

Our church is VERY beautiful. It is one of the most beautiful
churches in Assisi, and they don’t come much more beautiful…
anywhere! It is also extremely difficult to get to as, unless
you actually live in Assisi, you can’t just drive straight in.
The police stop you. You have to park way outside and walk.

My 86-year-old mother-in-law comes with us and I have to get
special permission from the police each time to drop her at the
church door, but then I have to drive out, park, and walk all
the way back in.

After the service I have to walk all the way back out, get the
car, convince the policeman that I am going to get my mother-in-
law from church, drive in, and drive back out again.

We were very lucky to get the use of the church. The Roman
Catholic bishop of Assisi had to give his special permission for
us Anglicans to use it. It has the most wonderful frescoes,
a wonderful hall with the most wonderful terrace with the most
wonderful view.

However, nobody needs to give us permission to pray;
nobody needs frescoes to pray,
and we often lose sight of the really important things.

The difficulty of getting to this church makes it even more
important to me to make the effort to be there.

Never mind the wine;
never mind the frescoes;
never mind the walk…

In case you didn’t know (I didn’t), a fresco is a painting but not
a normal painting that you hang on the wall, but the painting of
pictures on the wall itself. They are therefore immovable and
often hundreds of years old, needing special care to preserve
them for future generations to see.
