Good afternoon everyone! I just posted some words in my facebook wall sharing to friends that I just came back from grocery shopping. At the moment, I am baking some chicken wings for dinner. Hubby will be coming in some minutes and I always see to it that dinner is ready when he comes. I have a lot of things to mention to hubby tonight including some nice adjustable beds I found in a magazine while taking my breakfast. We just need new furniture in the house but we will wait until we are done with all house renovation. Little by little when financial matters are better we can do some renovation in our little home. I can’t stay too long here. I already smell the baked chicken downstairs. I believed it is done now. I wish everyone a great afternoon.

It is important to note that even in the midst of calamity and disaster, Job did not sin. There is no way he could have understood what was going on in his life at the time (as the next 40 chapters will vividly illustrate) and still he trusts in God. Job seems to know that at the bottom of it all, God is in control and must have some reason for allowing what is happening to happen to him.
Job 1:6-22
6 One day, when the angels of God came to present themselves before the LORD, Satan also came among them. 7 And the LORD said to Satan, “Whence do you come?” Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “From roaming the earth and patrolling it.” 8 And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job, and that there is no one on earth like him, blameless and upright, fearing God and avoiding evil?” 9 But Satan answered the LORD and said, “Is it for nothing that Job is God-fearing? 10 Have you not surrounded him and his family and all that he has with your protection? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock are spread over the land. 11 But now put forth your hand and touch anything that he has, and surely he will blaspheme you to your face.” 12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand upon his person.” So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. 13 And so one day, while his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother, 14 a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the asses grazing beside them, 15 and the Sabeans carried them off in a raid. They put the herdsmen to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 16 While he was yet speaking, another came and said, “Lightning has fallen from heaven and struck the sheep and their shepherds and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 17 While he was yet speaking, another came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three columns, seized the camels, carried them off, and put those tending them to the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 18 While he was yet speaking, another came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother, 19 when suddenly a great wind came across the desert and smote the four corners of the house. It fell upon the young people and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you.” 20 Then Job began to tear his cloak and cut off his hair. He cast himself prostrate upon the ground, 21 and said, “Naked I came forth from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I go back again. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!” 22 In all this Job did not sin, nor did he say anything disrespectful of God.

This parable ought to instill in us the fear of God. There is nothing compromising in this Gospel story; there is no way or place to hide from its message that we all have the responsibility to do what we can for the poor in our midst. The critical words here are “what we can”; that is, we probably cannot solve the world’s famine or poverty, but we can all do something to help alleviate it at least in one person’s life.
Luke 16:19-31
19 Jesus said to the Pharisees: “There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day. 20 And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21 who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores. 22 When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, 23 and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. 24 And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.’ 25 Abraham re plied, ‘My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. 26 Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.’ 27 He said, ‘Then I beg you, father, send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’ 30 He said, ‘Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ 31 Then Abraham said, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.’ ”

We must learn to fight the battles that are worth fighting — and this includes all fights that involve the truth — rather than give our energy to causes that will not endure or even fail. The Gospel is always worth fighting for and so Paul encourages Timothy to give his all in its service. The same should be true for us.
1 Timothy 6:11-16
11 But you, man of God, pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. 12 Compete well for the faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called when you made the noble confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I charge [you] before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who gave testimony under Pontius Pilate for the noble confession, 14 to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ 15 that the blessed and only ruler will make manifest at the proper time, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, and whom no human being has seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal power. Amen.

I read over the internet some weeks ago telling that a lot of people now can’t live without computers and internet. I guess this technology is already a part of our lives. I would say that my day is also boring without computer and internet. This is especially true because I love browsing the web. Besides having a passion now for blogging and also a way of communicating friends from all over the world, internet has truly a lot of influence to me. There is also this so-called free directory submission where I found very helpful for my websites. I wish I could have more time to share a lot of sharing in my blogs and yes, surfing online and maybe talk with friends. Sad to say, I am always a busy-body. Good evening folks!
Just a reminder, computers and technology are not really all in our lives. There are still a lot of things that are worthy to keep us busy.

Amos 6:1a, 4-7
1 Thus says the LORD the God of hosts: Woe to the complacent in Zion! 4 Lying upon beds of ivory, stretched comfortably on their couches, they eat lambs taken from the flock, and calves from the stall! 5 Improvising to the music of the harp, like David, they devise their own accompaniment. 6 They drink wine from bowls and anoint themselves with the best oils; yet they are not made ill by the collapse of Joseph! 7 Therefore, now they shall be the first to go into exile, and their wanton revelry shall be done away with.

I just read the mail sent by my sister from the Philippines. She mentioned that my Father with my Mother want to go for a vacation to visit some relatives in some islands in Mindanao and Visayas. My father wanted to talk to me but everytime I call their cellphones, it is not ringing at all. Sometimes the connection is not so clear. In short, they need some financial assistance to finance their trip. I can’t make a payday advance because I have no work at all to show my salary print-outs. I do agree with them to spend some time seeing places and enjoy the rest of their lives. I will call them back soon and will tell them that I will help a bit to finance their trip. Happy trip in advance Papa and Mama! God bless you all!

Good evening folks! It is raining right now in our place, a typical autumn weather. Summer is finally over . Now is the time to slowly turn-on the heaters because it is getting cold again. Back to main topic; I am thinking if I am going to send some balikbayan boxes for the coming Christmas. I got some stuffs to be sent to my sister who is studying Nursing now. It is good to send her stuffs from medical computer carts but I guess it is still too early for her. I just have some basic stuffs which she need in her first year in Nursing school. I also want to send my old PC to my other sister. I hope I can finally decide before the end of the month whether to send some balikbayan boxes or not. Happy weekend to all!
