Where to Find Affordable Gift Ideas

With all the economic and financial crisis that the world is facing right now, most and maybe all people want to save every single penny in their pocket. We can’t deny that especially that most goods and commodities are astronomically rising up at the moment. But I agree that there are always cheap shopping out there.

Sometimes, we have the difficulty of finding a perfect gift for someone who might be celebrating a special occasion. Whether it is your wife, husband, a friend, colleague or a relative who will be celebrating his/her birthday, wedding or anniversary, there are always affordable presents that will fit your budget. This is the reason why I am giving you some ideas on where and how to shop for affordable gift ideas.

Special offers

I believed most of us are shopping online nowadays. There are always special promotions online where you can find a lot of affordable goods to choose from. Subscribing a newsletter from an online shop is a good way to inform you of special offers. In this way, you are always updated of any products that are on sale. This might be a perfect as a gift for someone who celebrates a special occasion.

Seasonal Sales

I am always watching for winter and summer sales. These seasonal sales are always an advantage for those who want to save money. You can always get prices that are really very cheap. I did some winter sale shopping with my friends last January. It is not anymore a surprise for me to avail of cheap prices during this sale season. I am happy and satisfied for all the winter clothes and accessories that I bought. Imagine saving for up to 75% off, that is a lot of money. I am even saving the winter accessories as presents for the next Christmas time. This is one way of getting affordable gift ideas.

Visit a Supermarket or Mall

Two weeks ago, me and my friends went to the supermarket in the next city. Everyone was so happy with what they shopped because mostly are on sale. I did shopped for health and beauty products for my friends and family back home. I bought some bath soap, lotions, herbal bath, beauty soap and some fragrances which are mostly on sale. My sisters will be happy again to receive such beauty products before Christmas this year.

Thrift Shops

Sometimes you are lucky to find unopened and unused goods in thrift shops for cheaper prices. I remember a friend who mentioned last time about exchanging of gifts for this year’s Christmas. She said that we will buy the gifts at a thrift store and it cost at least 10.00 Euros. That is quite a good idea. For sure with this amount, you can already buy a lot of interesting stuffs. Sometimes you are lucky to find antique porcelain or ceramics which I also love.

Please be reminded to shop early for your presents to avoid stress and you sometimes save money for that. The earlier the better! It is always a nice feeling when you share or give something.

Calling Home

It’s been two weeks now since the catastrophe in Japan. Let us continue to pray for the people of Japan and other countries who are hit by calamities both natural and man made. I remember calling home two weeks ago after seeing what had happened in Japan over the television. It was truly a very sad and tragic happening.

I had a conversation again with my family back home last weekend. I wish to find better conference call services so that I can talk to them simultaneously. I also had problem with the one I am using right now. That was the reason why I was not able to talk with my sister over the internet last week. I also don’t know if my laptop has a problem why I can’t here my sister. I have to find it out next time. At least, I did had a communication with my family last weekend. Take care folks and have a lovely weekend!

Prayers for the people of Japan

I received this prayer and would like to share it to everyone. Let us continue to pray for the people of Japan and other places and countries that are hit by natural calamities and war. Peace to all! God bless us all!

THIS WONDERFUL PRAYER WAS PASSED ON TO US SO WE ARE PASSING IT ON. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!

Lord, I just want to say THANK YOU,
Because this morning I woke up and knew where my children were.

Because this morning my home was still standing,
Because this morning I am not crying
Because my spouse, my child, my brother or sister, my parent does not need to be buried
or to be pulled out from underneath a pile of concrete,
Because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water,
Because this morning I was able to turn on the light,
Because this morning I was able to take a shower,
Because this morning I was not planning a funeral,

But most of all I thank you this morning because I still have life and a voice to cry out for the people of Japan .
Lord I cry out to you, the One that makes the impossible, possible,
The One that turns darkness in to light,
I cry out that You give those mothers strength,

That You give them peace that surpasses all understanding,
That You may open the streets so that help can come,
That You may provide doctors, nurses, food, water, and all that they need in a blink of an eye.

For all those that have lost family members, give them peace, give them hope, give them courage to continue to go on!
Protect the children and shield them with your power.
I pray all this in the name of Jesus!!!

To all our blogger and email friends, please continue to forward this so that we can pray together for the people in Japan.

Love to Blog About Anything

I noticed that time is truly passing-by so fast. Yesterday, the spring season officially started in Germany. I am counting how many spring time did already passed since I started blogging seriously! Seriously? Yes, seriously but I admit that I am still a novice in the blogosphere. There are still a lot of things that I need to learn. Sometimes, I am browsing online on how to be a good and better blogger. I even need to surf and browse different websites like seo.com reviews to have more ideas about blogging. I simply love to blog about anything and maybe if I can for everything.

Thanks to this opportunity where I can share my thoughts, ideas and personal experiences online. Special thanks also to all my friends who had helped and inspired me to continue blogging. To all my readers, viewers and visitors, your time and effort are also very much appreciated. Thank you so much for everything! You are also the reason why I continue to blog! Thanks God above all!

Inspiring Messages-Matthew 7:7-12

Jesus encourages us to intercede for our needs. He wants us to be forthright and honest as we place our needs before God. If we truly think that God is asking us to do something and for which we need some help, then what is stopping us from forthrightly stating these needs to Him? At least God will know that we are trying to do what He asks us to do. And if we fail to place our needs before Him, He will also know that we are not really committted to be obedient to His Word.

Matthew 7:7-12

7 Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, 10 or a snake when he asks for a fish? 11 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him. 12 Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”

Daily Reading-Esther C:12, 14-16, 23-25

Queen Esther is a great example to us of integrity at work in faith. She is inspired to do what she knows she has to do to be faithful to her conscience. Even though she knows that to seek an audience with the king could mean her death, she does so for the sake of bringing justice to her people. Her integrity and bravery do not go unrewarded.

Esther C:12, 14-16, 23-25

28 [C:12] Queen Esther, seized with mortal anguish, likewise had recourse to the Lord. 30 [C:14] She lay prostrate upon the ground, together with her handmaids, from morning until evening, and said: “God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, blessed are you. Help me, who am alone and have no help but you, 31 [C:15] for I am taking my life in my hand. 32 [C:16] As a child I used to hear from the books of my forefathers that you, O LORD, always free those who are pleasing to you. 39 [C:23] Now help me, who am alone and have no one but you, O LORD, my God. “And now, come to help me, an orphan. 40 [C:24] Put in my mouth persuasive words in the presence of the lion, and turn his heart to hatred for our enemy, so that he and those who are in league with him may perish. 41 [C:25] Save us from the hand of our enemies; turn our mourning into gladness and our sorrows into wholeness.

Missing Home

I always believed in the saying, “There is no place like home”. That is also the reason why I am missing home sometimes. I had been to the different parts of the globe but home is always home. I envy my sister from the U.S. who is currently having her vacation in the Philippines.

I had a lot of memorable experiences during my three months vacation from late 2009 to early 2010. Sometimes, we experienced blackouts in Cebu and it last for days. We might need to buy a generator if ever we will be residing for good in the Philippines. Somebody told us that honda generators are of good quality. If I am not mistaken, this brand of generator is also the one that my friend bought as she went home last January.

At least, I truly had a wonderful time during my vacation last time. I hope our plan of spending a vacation this year will also push-through.

a view of Cebu City taken while we were at Taoist Temple. This is a Chinese temple located in Beverly Hills, Cebu. I had been there thrice already.

Time Is Gold

Hello folks! I am finally back here! The pasts days seems to be very busy. Sometimes, I can’t go online because I feel dizzy. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I am planning to visit the doctor in a couple of days for a check-up and I hope and pray that everything will be fine soon.

I also would like to extend my sympathy and prayers to the victims of tsunami and earthquake in Japan. Condolence to families who had lost their loveones in this very tragic catastrophe. God bless Japan and God bless us all.

Finally back to the main topic…Do you believe guys that time is gold? I always believed in it. That is also the reason why as much as possible, I don’t want to waste my time in things that are nonsense. I am always trying my best to maximize and use my time in a good and more productive way. I am only a plain housewife and sometimes I feel that 24-hours a day is still not enough to do all the things in the house. For me, time also means money. That is why I value time very much. I don’t want to waste my time and I always see to it that I can do some things that are always productive.

Holiday Cottages and Sighst To See in Cornwall

The first quarter of the year is almost ending. Three more weeks and the month of March will be over soon. It seems that I am in a hurry for the coming of April. I am just excited to browse about holiday cottages because I will be having another mini-holiday next month. It will be a 6-day trip and I am quite excited about it.

Have you plan your holiday for the year 2011? If you want to ask me, I will surely say, Yes, I am! I am in the process of browsing for cottages in Cornwall because this is one of my holiday destination for 2011. I believed there are a lot of cheap accommodation in this area. Thanks to Owners Direct for giving a lot of information about powerful holiday villas, apartments, bed and breakfast, hotels and holiday rentals not only in Europe but in the whole world as well. Wherever and whenever we want to spend our holiday, there is always a good place for us to stay.

I am also trying to research what could be the possible sights to see in Cornwall. I have a travel book of England but it did not say too much of Cornwall. Thanks to wikipedia for all the helpful information about this place. I would love to especially visit The Eden Project which has a vast collection of flora from all over the world. I always love to watch movies about King Arthur and visiting Tintagel Castle which is his legendary birthplace can be a great experience. Some other interesting sights to visit includes The Lost Gardens of Flannigan, Leyton McCash’s Mystery Dungeon, Land’s End, The National Maritime Museum Falmouth, The Fate St Ives and a lot more.

For sure, I would to also love to taste the regional specialties in Cornwall. My list includes Cornish Ice Cream, Saffron Cake, Hogs puddin, the famous seafood Star Gazey’ pie and their yummy fudge and biscuits. It seems that my appetite is getting high now. I also heard that Cornwall if famous for its honey wine. I might try this too!

Don’t forget to plan ahead you travel in Cornwall. You might save time and money for that.

Inspring Messages- Sirach 36:1, 4-5, 10-17

Trust is important in discipleship. Without entrusting our lives to the goodness and love of God it is impossible for us to be His disciple and to grow in holiness. The Jews cry out to God to look after them and assure that their interests are not neglected on the world stage. We, too, need to learn to entrust our needs to the Lord and so give Him the opportunity to demonstrate His eternal faithfulness to us.

Sirach 36:1, 4-5, 10-17

1 Come to our aid, O God of the universe, and put all the nations in dread of you! 4 Thus they will know, as we know, that there is no God but you. 5 Give new signs and work new wonders. 10 Gather all the tribes of Jacob, that they may inherit the land as of old, 11 show mercy to the people called by your name; Israel, whom you named your first-born. 12 Take pity on your holy city, Jerusalem, your dwelling place. 13 Fill Zion with your majesty, your temple with your glory. 14 Give evidence of your deeds of old; fulfill the prophecies spoken in your name, 15 reward those who have hoped in you, and let your prophets be proved true. 16 Hear the prayer of your servants, for you are ever gracious to your people; 17 thus it will be known to the very ends of the earth that you are the eternal God.
