Top 10 Movies for Valentines Day

It’s about that time of year again, when the day of love is in the air and around the corner. Celebrated by many cultures around the world – in respective variants, of course – if you live in the States, you and a significant other are likely gearing up to catch the latest romantic comedy, or a day alone using your internet access to stream time-tested Valentine’s Day movies right into your living room. It’s a good thing, then, that there are so many good ones out there that appeal to both men and women:

  1. Love Jones is a well-acted and sexy romantic drama from 1997, starring then-fledgling stars Larenz Tate and Nia Long. Although not short on romance, this tale of shared love diverges a bit from the common perfect ending type and aims for a more plausible finish.
  2. True Romance, directed by none other than Quentin Tarantino and starring Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette (with significant parts by the late Dennis Hopper and the formidable Christopher Walken, along with a young Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer and Gary Oldman) an essentially perfect film of romance that any guy – and more than a few gals – will fall for. There’s a reason it’s a cult classic…
  3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – a romantic and range-extending turn for quintessential funnyman Jim Carrey, and Titanic muse Kate Winslet, this masterpiece from 2004 resonates with men and women alike, capturing perfectly the sense of love and loss in a love story with mild sci-fi elements. Early Valentines Present from Fairy Hobmother

I guess this is no longer a belated Christmas present but an early Valentines gift from someone out there! I was surprised when I received an email from Fairy Hobmother. From his magical woodland, I did not expect that  he  will flutter his wings and give me an early Valentines present. Isn’t it cool?

For all you know, he wanted to give me one of his Top 5 tumble dryers but I told him, I needed something else. He still granted my request. He is such a very kind fairy sharing his blessings to a poor blogger like me.

I believed many of you wishes something from your husband, partner or loveones this coming Heart’s day. If Fairy Hobmother will see that you are doing good in your blogs, he will surely visit you. I also wanted you to know that he is not a “she” and I believed he is truly a nice person.

This is what he told me in his message. “I’ve had the chance to take a look at your blog and I’m very impressed with what I see. You clearly work very hard on them, and I think that such hard work deserves to be rewarded.” Finally one of my wishes come true when he visited my blogs. I am so happy! I am so grateful with your blessings Fairy Hobmother and you are always welcome to wave your magic wand again and again and share blessings  in my blogs.

If you are a blogger and wishes something special this coming Valentines day, feel free to leave a comment here. You can also follow him in twitter by simply clicking, Fairy Hobmother.  He twitted that since Valentines day is coming, he is looking for some bloggers to help him spread the love as far and as fast as he can before the date!

To all bloggers out there, hurry up and make your wish come true!

Proper Diet and Nourishment

Let me share this first. A friend told me that someone want to lose weight and start a diet plan. She said, this lady skipped and avoided to eat proper food for some days believing that by doing that, she will lose excess fat in her body. As a result of not eating proper food, that lady got sick and felt so weak in her body. Would you think, this is the right way of losing weight? I believed not!

Every woman and maybe some men out there would surely want a healthy and slim body. I am with you guys. I always wanted to get back my slim figure 12 years ago. I am slowly working on it. The past days, I am trying to avoid foods that are not really health. I am starting to prepare meals that are high in protein and low in carbohydrates. Fruits and vegetables are also included in our daily diet. Thanks to my good friends who are nurses, who keep on sharing topics on proper diet and nutrition every now and then.

One of my friend who is working as a nurse for over a decade now want to pursue a higher education. She wants to take online Master of Science in nursing courses to pursue her career. She said, she undergoes continuous education from time to time. She must attend classes and seminars to get updated with the current trends  of medical and health field. To be more competitive in her career, she said taking courses like Master of Science in Nursing, will surely lead for better knowledge in the ever changing health care industry and to have better chances in her career. According to her, “Life is a process of continuous education”.   If you are a nurse  who want to take  online  Master of Science in nursing, Benedictine University  is the answer to your needs.

It is great to have friends who have knowledge in medical and health field. I am always happy when they share and partake ideas about health and balanced diet and nutrition. You know who you are and I am always grateful for sharing your knowledge.

I hope that my dream and wish of  getting rid of excess weight will be a success. I just need proper diet and nourishment and  focus and discipline as well.  I am crossing my fingers!

So Grateful

Life is great despite of imperfection.
Life is wonderful despite of trials and problems.
But I am always  grateful for being in this world.
I am grateful for my family, friends and relatives who are always there for me.

I am grateful for the food that I eat everyday.
I am grateful for the air that I breath.
I am grateful  for the warm home during  this cold winter  season.
I am grateful for having good friends.
I am grateful to all the natures I see around.
Most of all, I am grateful for my good health.

I am grateful of  my car that can bring me anywhere.
I am grateful for my computer  when  browsing online.
I am grateful for the warm clothes when I go outside during winter.
I am grateful for all the opportunities I had in life.
I am grateful because I am always given the chance to travel.
I am grateful for all the blessings I received.

There are just a lot of things to be grateful everyday.
Always remember, there are always a lesser and a greater person than us.
But we are all equal in God’s eyes.
Thank you dear Lord for all your goodness!

Inspiring Words!

How’s everyone? How was your first days of the year 2013? I hope everything went well. I am doing good except for some challenges. I am keep on hoping and praying that everything will be fine soon.

I  wish everyone a blessed and more bountiful New Year 2013.

I am also sharing these wonderful and very inspiring messages   I received in my inbox. Take care folks and God bless everyone!

“We are not just called to love one another; we have a responsibility to do so because God first loved us while we did not deserve it. Love should always be a choice that we make and not just a response or a reward for something good a person has done for us. True love does not depend on a person’s achievements as it is based on the dignity of the human person – in the nature of humanity – i.e., our humanity demands it of us.”

1 John 4:11-18
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us. 13 This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us of his Spirit. 14 Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as savior of the world. 15 Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God. 16 We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him. 17 In this is love brought to perfection among us, that we have confidence on the day of judgment because as he is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment, and so one who fears is not yet perfect in love.

A Prosperous New Year 2013!

2013 is almost here!
I would like  to greet everyone
A Happy and Wonderful New Year 2013..
May love, peace and happiness
Be with us all!
Good health to our family
in the coming years to come..

A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2013 TO EVERYONE!

“New Year’s eve is like every other night;
there is no pause in the march of the universe,
no breathless moment of silence among created things
that the passage of another twelve months may be noted;
and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening
that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.”

Christmas (What Is Its True Meaning?)

Christmas is Almost Around the Corner! I would love to extend my greetings to one and all!

“MERRY CHRISTMAS
AND A HAPPY AND MORE PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2013 to ALL OF US!
GOD BLESS US ALL!”

I  would like to share this very nice message shared by an FB friend. Thanks Mel for sharing this wonderful thought about the true meaning of Christmas…keep reading!

“We associate Christmas with endless shopping, with sumptuous foods on Christmas eve and Christmas day, of never ending gift giving, of going to carnivals and fairs, and other forms of merry making characterized by wanton display of one’s affluence and goaded on by crass commercialism.

That’s why every year, when Christmas season approaches, 3/4 or more of the world’s population feel dejected and lonely. Why? Because they lack the resources to buy all the nice things that will make them and their loved ones (especially their children) happy on Christmas day.

Why? Because they have accepted in their minds that Christmas is all about the ostentatious display of one’s wealth come Christmas day. The world has accepted the gross commercialism and materialism that the western countries have ingrained in the minds of all the people in the world.

Everywhere in the world, people associate Christmas with Santa Claus and his gifts, with white Christmas characterized with snow and all the fun games of winter, with Christmas trees, with colorful Christmas lights, with fireworks, with fine new clothes, Christmas caroling, and with plenty and sumptuous foods.

But what is the real meaning and essence of Christmas? It seems that people have lost track of the true reason why we celebrate Christmas.

Luke 2:8-14 says, “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you: you will find a baby wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.’ Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.”

The birth of Jesus Christ in a humble manger have presaged the opening of heaven’s gate for all people to be saved by His eventual death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. Thus, we should be celebrating Christmas in memory of the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ whom the Father sent to redeem fallen mankind.

We should celebrate Christmas in our hearts as we feel God’s presence in our lives. The real merry making and the indescribable joy of the true Christmas will be fully experienced by us when we come face to face with our Savior in His kingdom, to live in blissful existence with Him forevermore.

Let us rediscover the original joy of Christmas by letting Jesus Christ enter our hearts.”

The Boy..what a very inspiring story! Merry Christmas!

I read this very inspiring story from my friend’s FB wall. I just can’t  avoid not to share it  to all of you. Oh  Lord..Thank  You for all your goodness and for everything you had provided us everyday in our lives!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

“I saw a cashier hand a little boy his money back at the mall, the boy couldn’t have been more than 5 or 6 years old. The Cashier said, ‘I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll.” The little boy turned to the old woman next to him, ”Granny, are you sure I don’t have enough money?” She replied, ”You know that you don’t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.” Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. ‘It’s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas. She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.’ I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. ‘No, Santa Claus can’t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.’ His eyes were so sad while saying this, ‘My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.” My heart nearly stopped.

The little boy looked up at me and said, ‘I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.’ Then he showed me a very nice photo of himself. He was laughing. He then told me ‘I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won’t forget me.’ ‘I love my mommy and I wish she didn’t have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.’ Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. ‘Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll!” OK’ he said, ‘I hope I do have enough.’ I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said, ‘Thank you God for giving me enough money!’ Then he looked at me and added, ‘I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me!” ‘I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn’t dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.” ‘My mommy loves white roses.’ A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state of mind from when I started. I couldn’t get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local newspaper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away and the mother was left in a critical state.

The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-sustaining machine because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy I read in the newspaper that the young woman had passed away. I couldn’t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine, and in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.”
