The Salzburg Cathedral

Visiting one of the loveliest city in Europe and maybe in the world is a great experience. I had a wonderful time visiting again Salzburg for the fourth time. One of the sights we visited was the Salzburg Cathedral. It is a Roman Catholic Cathedral with Baroque architecture, dedicated to Saint Rupert of Salzburg.

The Facade of the Salzburg Cathedral in Austria during our visit last May 20, 2012.

The first cathedral was built under Saint Vergilius of Salzburg, who might have used foundations by St. Rupert. The first Dom was recorded in 774. The so-called Virgil Dom was built from 767 to 774 and was 66 metres long and 33 metres wide.
